**** •About These Files ****
The Extras folder contains several sample files that can be used to demonstrate ProTERM’s features and power. Reference to some of these files is made in the ProTERM manual. Some of the newer files were developed since the manual was printed and the files and or their folders contains instructions for their use.

This contains files used by the special “Resident User Custom file that provides tools power tools for handling the routine of related to working with daily mail. Several of the templates in Resident User Custom are designed for use with ProTERM Message Manager (PTMM).
Additional directions are in the Read Me file in the Custom FKey Kit folder and also within the macro itself.
**** Print Test 140 ****
Print Test 140 is a file specially formatted to allow experimentation with printing documents with strange dimensions (extra long or wide pages). Instructions are contained within this file explaining its use.
**** About Resource Files ****
A resource file has a name such as "PT Emuldev 12xx"
The first two digits “12” refers to the ProTERM version the file is designed to work with, e.g., ProTERM 1.2 and the third and forth digits are the version of the particular file. PT Emuldev 1204 would be ProTERM Emulation in development, for use with ProTERM 1.2, and this is the fourth revision.
ProTERM uses “resource files” to add features and make changes to the way ProTERM works for you. For example, a file could be named “PT Update 1204” which means it is version 1204 of a resource file which would update ProTERM 1.2, maybe correct some problems and maybe add some features.
A resource file is “installed” when it is located in the “PT Resources” folder. Each time ProTERM is started, it scans the “PT Resources” folder and loads in all resource files present in that folder. To “uninstall” a resource file, move it out of the “PT Resources” folder and restart ProTERM. InTrec Software makes updated versions of ProTERM resource files available for download via many online services. You can determine whether a version is newer by comparing the four-digit version number. Higher numbers indicate later (more current) versions. When you install a later version, the older number becomes obsolete, and you can discard the earlier version (keeping the older files does not create a problem, but they are not needed).
Documentation about a particular resource file is obtained by double-clicking on the icon of the file. ProTERM will open an editor document containing the file’s documentation and revision history.
*** PT Emuldev ***
A ProTERM resource file which includes some additional terminal and keyboard emulations that are designated as “under development.” They are not complete emulations, but may be of use to some users. To make these emulations available to ProTERM, drag this file to the “PT Resources” folder and restart ProTERM. You can double-click on this file to get information about the additional emulations it provides.
*** PT Serbug ***
This file adds a special modem port driver to ProTERM which is useful during
debugging. This driver is not affected by damaged state due to crashes or
improper termination of the software.
*** PT Serial ***
A ProTERM resource file which adds some specialized modem port drivers to the software. When this file is dragged to the PT Resources folder, ProTERM will list some additional serial port choices in the Configure command. The additional drivers are for the modem port and support varying degrees of buffering. The driver name takes the form of "Modem Port (xxK+yyK)" where "xx" represents the size of the transmit buffer and the "yy" represents the size of the receive buffer. These drivers are meant for those users who want to experiment with different buffer sizes (and are not needed by the average user).

A ProTERM resource file designed to give ProTERM a look & feel which is consistent with Aaron. If you are using Aaron to give your Mac a 3D look, you may want to drag this file to the PT Resources folder and drag the existing PT Style-3D file from the PT Resources folder to the Extras folder (only one PT Style-xxxx file should be in the PT Resources folder at a time).
*** PT Style-Plain ***
A ProTERM resource file designed to give ProTERM the fastest possible user interface using the traditional "flat" Mac look & feel. If you prefer speed over style, then you may want to drag this file to the PT Resources folder and drag the existing PT Style-3D file from the PT Resources folder to the Extras folder (only one PT Style-xxxx file should be in the PT Resources folder at a time).

A template for a ProTERM Resident Macro file. If you want to create your own resident macro file which is separate from the existing macros, use this file as a start. Check the Read Me Macros file in the Macros folder for more information.
**** Resident User F5-F10 ****
A custom FKeys file with examples and directions on how to write custom Fkey macros for an emulation.
**** VT-102 F5-F12 Keys ****
This is a customized VT-102 macro key set with examples used on some VT-102 systems. If you require keys that are different from this set, you can enter your custom key instructions by replacing the examples. Instructions are in the file.

These folders contain logon instructions and preset connect files to allow your first logon with the respective service. Follow the instructions in each file.
